Which Greek island is best for culture, scenery and good food?

October 27, 2009 - 9:37 pm 16 Comments

I and my girlfriend are planning a trip to one of the Greek islands, but we’re not sure which one is the best to visit.

We prefer quieter places with a lot of history, culture and places to visit, along with some tasty food. Not too touristy but easy enough to get to.

There’s a lot of information out there and we’re finding it hard to make a decision.

For some of the reasons Alex described and for many more that the site will not be enough to mention, Kerkyra-Corfu is an island with many different aspects through the ages to offer for those that are willing to search. Only a few more, you will find in the link below. The rest you have to discover on site.
However both Crete and Rhodos are also excellent places to visit for the purposes you have in mind. The advantage that Corfu and Rhodos have over Crete is that they are smaller in size and therefore easier to see all they have to offer.

How do I go about getting into the porn industry?

October 27, 2009 - 9:37 pm 16 Comments

I just recently graduated high school and I would really like to go into the porn industry. I really do like sex a lot and I think having sex for a living would be so much fun. Some of you probably think it’s very s*utty to for a girl to do such a thing, but I’m a confident woman who knows what she wants in life. Performing in porn is something I’ve always wanted to do, so how do I go about getting into the industry? I would really appreciate any ones help. Thanks.

I’m just sitting here laughing my ass off, I’m sorry but did you really think when you asked this question you weren’t going to get any bad answers? Haha… omg nice…

Anyway, I would probably… go to porno sites and see where they’re made. or go to map quest and look up porn and see what you get for the places. Go visit in something(sorry to say it) skanky, and ask for the manager. Show it off and ask for a job there or somewhere and see what happens.

And yeah, tell your parents they suck for letting this go on… kinda

But I must admit, it does sound like a goddamn awesome job. Demenning, but awesome

Every online translator that I’ve been able to find doesn’t have a translation for English to Amharic. I can’t seem to find one anywhere else on the web either. Does anyone know where I can find an online translator for English to Amharic? (and hopefully for free)

How do you make Microsoft Word start in Safe Mode all the time?

October 25, 2009 - 8:36 pm 2 Comments

For some reason, when I open Word, it doesn’t respond. So I end task and open it again, and it comes up with the message, "Word failed to start correctly last time. Starting Word in Safe Mode will help you correct or isolate a start up problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode. Do you want to start in Safe Mode?" I click yes, and it works fine. Does anyone know how to default the "Safe Mode" setting?

Your initial problem may be a corrupted global template. Instead of trying to start in Safe Mode, try this and see if it fixes that.

1.Close all copies of MS Word.
2.In Windows Explorer (My Computer) go to the directory

c:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates.

(in Word Vista, go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\your username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

)

3.The Normal.dot template (in Word 2007, Normal.dotx or Normal.dotm) should be in this directory. Change its name to Normal.dot.bak. (So if this doesn’t work, you can change it back.) If there is a file ~$Normal.dot (note the funny characters at the front), delete it.
4.Try Word again. It should find Normal.dot missing, recreate it, and, hopefully, give you back your functionality.

Good luck.

What might be a standard hourly wage for a language translator working for a law firm?

October 25, 2009 - 8:35 pm 1 Comment

I am trying to get an idea of the hourly wage range that a language translator may earn in a large law firm in a major city. Responsibilities would include summary and detail translations of client documents, maintaining document lists and interpreting meaning of certain wording within documents. Any approximation of wage would be very helpful. Thanks!

It depends which country and which city and which languages! In London legal translators for standard European languages (English, German, French, Spanish) in a good company can expect to earn at least 25 K a year. If it’s Russian or Japanese, at least 35 K. The rates are probably similar in Paris or Frankfurt but much less in Spain or Italy or Eastern Europe.

How much can you make as an English to Spanish translator in Miami?

October 25, 2009 - 8:35 pm 3 Comments

I know a 70 year old man who is an erudite. He speaks 6 languages, has masters in Economics and he’s an incredible Financial and Business Specialist with a more than vast experience. He just emigrated from Cuba so in the mean time he gets his papers settle he wants to make some money working as a translator from English to Spanish. He deals with official documents and any kind of information at all. How much can he make per hour?. Is there a standard or average payment rate?

I’m guessing a lot…
Especially with the ability to speak 6 different languages.
