Are there any American women dating an Albanian man like me?

February 15, 2010 - 8:57 am 3 Comments

Just wanted to get your opinion on how its different than dating your own race. Im hispanic and an American and fell in love with an Albanian and we been together for two years now. His culture, background, and religion is different than mine but we dont let that interfere in our relationship. Just need someone to talk to who can relate to me about albanian men. Thanks.

I am an American married to an Albanian man. We have one little one together. I love my family and my life and am truly blessed to have found my soul mate. His family is wonderful and the best part is that they love me and our little one fits right in with everyone’s babies in the family.

It isn’t usual for Albanians to marry outside of their culture though. They will date but prefer to marry another Albanian as both are brought up differently than anywhere else. The best thing to do is research what Albanian men are like and finding out what Albanian women are like, what is expected of them, etc. That will give you an idea of what he is truly expecting and what his family expects.

If he hasn’t mentioned you to anyone especially his family, that is to be expected. He won’t unless he feels you are the one and if you live in a different country, it will be after you are either engaged or married. They have their reputation to up hold and won’t introduce multiple women that they are dating for being thought of as a man who gets around. If he doesn’t give you any signs that say you are the one, you probably aren’t and are just his girl until he meets an Albanian female; so don’t get to wrapped up in him being the one. Chances are high that you aren’t the one for him.

They are very passionate, romantics who once in love, will never leave their woman. This doesn’t mean they won’t venture, they just will never leave their families. Family is very important to them. They don’t tolerate lying, cheating, talking to anyone they don’t want you to, etc. Honestly is very important to them and they want to know you are theirs, are there for them and the children and not anywhere else. They don’t want you to go out, party, or do anything that is not associated with what an Albanian women is suppose to be and they will not marry you if you don’t comply. So, if your Albanian man allows you to do whatever you want including going out to the clubs, you aren’t the one he is going to marry and he has already decided that. Once they make a decision, even if they realize it is wrong, they won’t change their minds and nothing anyone says or does will change that.

Just from knowing you are from Hispanic descent and having grown up here, you are probably a very strong willed woman who can be loud, out going, and enjoys doing what you want to do and hate having someone tell you what you can and can’t do. If this is you, he isn’t going to marry you. They want a woman who will do what they want and know when to stand up.

They are wonderful men, but you have to have a lot of patience and understand that they are the head of the household, that everything stays within the family and you don’t do anything behind their backs even if it is a surprise and especially if it is something they don’t want you doing.

You have to change your ideas and perspectives a lot.

You also mentioned you are different religions. I can tell you, with everything you have said, he isn’t going to marry you. I know that isn’t what you want to hear; but it is the truth. I strongly suggest keeping that in mind if you continue to date so that it won’t hurt as bad in the end. Realize, he can walk out your front door without anything and never come back. I was very lucky in that my husband and I are the same religion, have the same ideals, and I am willing to be Albanian completely in my attitude and way of doing things. That can be a huge sacrifice to someone who can’t do that.

Check out this link. It will give you more information from the Albanian community: http://www.topix.com/forum/world/albania/T0FVDQTHQ65DE531H

They have other ones on there to read that would be helpful to you too.

Read about the expectations of Albanian women in the home, in marriage, outside the home, etc. It is very different from what we as Americans have been brought up to be.

Why do greeks use the albanian fustanella and dance chamiko ?

January 27, 2010 - 2:43 am 6 Comments

Fustanella is a very old albanian dress used in south especially from Laberia and Chameria regions.
Chamiko, dance from the albanian region of Chameria.
In 1944, in chameria greeks comitet ethnic cleansing of cham albanias, today unshamfully they use their dance including fustanella.

there is no Chameria, there is the Greek region of Epirus and half of it is under Albanian occupation
Albanians claim to be descendants of ancient illyrians and at the same time they confuse illyria with the Greek kingdom of Epirus! Well Albanians are not even illyrians, not even European, according to the Ottoman archives the Ottomans brought them to Europe as mercenaries from the region of Azerbaijan! They called them "Arvanutluk" which means those who did not return, because they stayed in the Northern part of Greece and never went back! Indeed in the region of Azerbaijan there is a region called Albania and the cultural and linguistic background of this place is almost identical to the albanian…………

My poor Greece everyone wants a lil bit of your glory~

What the difference between Serbian Burek and Albanian Burek?

January 16, 2010 - 1:24 pm 3 Comments

The only difference is the crust of the Byrek. Albanians make it will multiple thin crusts put together while Serbs make it with thicker crust.
The filling doesn’t really make the difference. It depends on individual taste. I cook different types at home: with spinach, meat, cheese, onions, etc. And a few years ago a Serb friend did the same when I visited their home.

Am i going to loose the albanian cityzenship?

December 10, 2009 - 5:56 am 2 Comments

I am going to have the greek cityzenship . i dont know what is going to happen and what are the disadvantages.

no, you will not, Albania allows dual citizenship, and so does Greece,
An Albanian citizen may also be a citizen of another state.

A Greek national will not usually lose his/her Greek citizenship when obtaining another nationality, unless a request to lose the nationality is submitted. A Greek citizen may voluntarily renounce citizenship by submitting an application to the Ministry of Interior in Athens.
so therefore? you are okay,
the advantages? not any that i see,
especially since the European Union…..

Why part of Kosovar people want a New Albanian State?

November 15, 2009 - 11:32 am 5 Comments

They don’t recognise the state in which they live and work ( SR Serbia):
- refusal to serve in the army
- non-participation in the elections
- non-payment of all state taxes and duties
- the establishment of "parallel schools", exclusively for the members of the Albanian national minority

It represents a violation of the provision 37 of the Final Document of the 2nd Meeting of the Conference on Human Dimension of the OSCE (Copenhagen, 1990), and of the Para.9 of the Preamble, of the articles 20 and 21 of the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Protection of National Minorities.

At the same time, the Albanian minority uses all the benefits given by the state and the system they do not recognize, but which are suitable for them:

- health insurance
- employments in public and private sectors
- all rights in the field of information
- passports
- vaccination of the population, etc.

Don’t you think, they are asking too much ?

Speaking of technical perfection, Serbia has not provided voting lists of Kosovo Albanians, so looking at the whole picture, we shall put aside the birocratical gameplay.

In the world of applied politics, treaties are irrelevant. They are subject to manipulation and selfinterpretation.

The Albanians living in Kosovo want independence because they are backed up by an evil force called NATO, being their natural desire to live in a homogeneous group, just like any other nation. The only problem in this case is that instead of going to Albania which is homeland of their ethnic group or sharing the territory with the Serbs under ideal conditions a legal minority could be given anywhere, they want to detach a Serbian territory from the Serbs.

They are doing this because USA, feeling too strong at this historical moment, has put itself above international conventions and treaties.

The Russians are getting stronger. The Chinese have not forgotten the humiliation by USA. Justice is returning to the world :)
