What the difference between Serbian Burek and Albanian Burek?

The only difference is the crust of the Byrek. Albanians make it will multiple thin crusts put together while Serbs make it with thicker crust.
The filling doesn’t really make the difference. It depends on individual taste. I cook different types at home: with spinach, meat, cheese, onions, etc. And a few years ago a Serb friend did the same when I visited their home.

As I understand, Serbian burek is primarily meat or sirnica (cheese), while Albanian burek is primarily spinach, but often contains other savory ingredients and sometimes even sweets.

Albanians (from the village of my roots, at least) make the beef version with onions cooked brown. It gives it a complementing sweet flavor, I have to say.

Other than that, I wouldn’t think there’s much of a difference. I’ll admit that I never had Serbian Burek, but I’d assume each village would have their own slight variations. Serbs eat burek with homemade yogurt, too, right?
