Which Albanian dialect is the most widely spoken?

Assuming one has no specific plans, which would be the best dialect to go for: Gheg or Tosk?

The majority of them are Gheg speakers, but I don’t think you realize that Gheg and Tosk branch off into four subdialects, EACH !!!

Generally, Gheg speakers could understand Tosk speakers while Tosk speakers might have a hard time understanding Gheg speakers.

The official standard dialect of Albania is mainly Tosk with bits of Gheg mixed into it. Go with this one.

Tosk is the official language in Albania since 1945, so I think it is the best to go for.
