How do I stop rain from leaking into my floorboard?
I found out after buying a 1973 Pontiac Ventura, that whenever it would rain it would leak water into the passenger floorboard. So I bought a car cover to keep it covered during the rain. What can I do to stop the leak?
I think it’s leaking somewhere around the passenger fender into the cab, somehow. Anybody else had/have this problem and have any tips?
The vents under the wipers are for the heater/air conditioner in the space below them is a large area for incoming air. at either end under the fenders there should be an oblong hole you will have to remove the fender to get at them. These plug up frequently in that style of GM product clear the holes and the water will run out. behind the fenders instead of down the firewall to the floor. The other issue is usually a bad windshield seal. if the windshield fogs up at the bottom you will have to remove the glass replace the seal reinstall the glass. The 1973 Chevy were known for the pillars rotting out if you pull the glass and the lip for the pinch-weld is missing or bad the piller will have to be welded. Do not cover this up as this is a part of the safety cage of this car.

replace the weather stripping around the windshield and passenger door, if that doesn’t do the trick then your best bet would be to ask a paint and body expert.

roll up the windows when it’s raining …
Seiously, It sound like your seal for the windsheild is not working the way it should. A quick fix would be using waterproof caulking, or replacing the seal. Another ling to check for would be hole/holes in the cowel at the firewall.
