but there’s always the side of me that wonders if my religion is right, why hasn’t god fixed my life… thats how faith comes in… so I agree with you that faith isn’t a waste of time… i’m only partially with you on religion though

However, faith is not. If religion aids a person in leading a better life, then I’m all for it. As such, I happen to enjoy listening to this song and all these religion-haters really need to take a step back and figure out what really is annoying.
Why does it matter? … Why does it matter? Music isn’t about what the writers initially intend, its about what it means to each individual person. That’s why bands purposefully make songs with vague meaning … so it can have different meanings to different people. Maybe to them (the person you called an idiot) it has something to do with God and to you it doesn’t. What difference does it make?
Just enjoy the music for what it is and stop fighting about it.
