If there is one word to describe the annual Guča trumpet festival it is ‘deafening’. Fifty brass bands compete for the coveted Golden Trumpet award while many more liven up the make-shift bars and restaurants. Over half a million visitors descend annually onto this small town near Čačak, a four-hour bus-drive south west of Belgrade.
The Brass Band Festival in Guča is definitely one of the quirkiest music festivals in Europe. The next Guča madness will be held from 5 – 9 August 2009.
