What is a list of numorus words instead of using the word check?

I am doing an exam next week and want a few alternative words for the word "check" to enlarge my vocabulary.

Example:

"I checked the receipts to the bank account."

The more words the better.

Cheers for answers.
I should have also said it is Business type paper.

To:-
Examine – eg She checks her face in the mirror every morning.
Confirm the truth or accuracy of something – “I’ll just check with the doctor about your medication”.
Halt or slow something – the government are planning more changes in an effort to check inflation
Stop Suddenly: – He checked himself mid sentence as he realised the truth
Hand over your Baggage – Check your suitcase in at arrivals desk
In Chess – Check before Checkmate
Looking at somebody or something – “Check out that one!”
Squared pattern – as on a checkered flag
The Bill in a restaurant – “check please”
Checks & Balances – a system of distribution of power among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government to make sure entire government is not being controlled by one single branch
